Class DescriptionsComputers - Keyboarding: Focus on keyboarding as you become a better typist. Make an impression in your community as a computer literate person and become more competitive in the work force. Emergency Preparedness & Injury Prevention: Learn how to use self-adovacy skills when planning for individual emergencies and disasters. Learn to be aware of potentially hazardous situations, how to avoid injuries, and to advocate for a safe physical environment. Receive materials and instruction in emergency preparedness and disaster planning. Light Aerobics: Start on the road to a healthier life style as you get fit through light aerobic exercise appropriate for anyone. Learn how to find programs at recreation centers and to access the community of fitness. Money Management: Brush up on counting change and learn the basics of money management in order to make better use of your income. Includes hands-on-practice and budgeting exercises. Personal Safety: Learn to be safe as you go about your life - at the bus stop, in the workplace, at school. This workshop covers assertiveness skills, avoiding danger, recognizing abuse and practicing safety strategies. Disability Awareness & Public Speaking: Practice speaking about personal needs and goals to become a better advocate for yourself with friends, family and others. Learn communication skills that will enable you to stand up for yourself and to express your needs. Sexuality and Relationships: Learn more about healthy adult sexuality and how to avoid unsafe behaviors and violence as you interact with the people in your life. Social Recreation: Develop skills for accessing and evaluating recreational opportunities. Grow socially as you develop skills to advocate for people with disabilities in the area of recreation and leisure. |
