It is important for Social Security Administration beneficiaries with disabilities to understand that with the use of work incentives many can still receive their benefits while they test their ability to work. If you are a beneficiary of SSDI or SSI or work with a beneficiary who is working or interested in returning to work, please contact WIPA. Examples of Work Incentives Impairment Related Work Expenses Subsidies and Special Conditions Unincurred Business Expenses (Self Employment Only) Trial Work Period (TWP) Extended Period of Eligibility (EPE) Continuation of Medicare Coverage Earned Income Exclusion Student Earned Income Exclusion (SEIE) Blind Work Expenses (BWE) Plan for Achieving Self Support (PASS) Property Essential to Self Support Continued Payment Under a Vocational Rehabilitation Program Continuation of Medicaid Coverage (Section 1619(b)) The goal of the WIPA project is to enhance SSI/SSDI beneficiary and their family members’ awareness and understanding of Federal, State and local work incentives, and improve their ability to make informed choices regarding work. WIPA will provide the following services: Outreach: WIPA staff will conduct outreach services to Beneficiaries, their family members, and Federal, State, and local agencies and organizations that provide services to people with disabilities who receive SSI/SSDI. Benefits Assistance: Involves the delivery of information on direct supports for the purpose of dealing with the effective management of benefits issues. Benefits Planning: Benefits Specialists will assist beneficiaries in establishing plans and developing long-term supports that may be needed to ensure success. They will also provide periodic follow-up planning services and assess the potential impacts of work and/or changes on a beneficiaries benefits. Services and consultations are available on a rotating basis at the full service Texas Workforce Centers located in the following cities: Austin, Round Rock, San Marcos, Bastrop, Lockhart, Kyle, Waco, Bryan, Temple, and Killeen.
